Mueller’s Classic LasagnaIngredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cans (15 ounces each) tomato sauce
  • 2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste
  • 2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, Italian sausage, onion, and garlic until the meat is no longer pink and the onions are tender. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, and seasonings (basil, salt, and pepper) to the skillet. Simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. In a medium bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with the egg until well blended.
  6. To assemble the lasagna, spread a small amount of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place three lasagna noodles on top. Spread one-third of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by one-third of the meat sauce, then sprinkle with one-third of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers two more times, finishing with a layer of meat sauce topped with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  7. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Allow the lasagna to cool for about 15 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy your homemade Mueller’s Classic Lasagna!
